The Big Sioux River watershed is the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary lands of the Bdewakaŋtuŋwaŋ, Waȟpekute, Sisituŋwaŋ, and Waȟpetuŋwaŋ bands of the Dakota Oyate (Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe) and (Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribe). We gratefully acknowledge the Native Peoples on whose ancestral homelands we gather and who have stewarded the lands and waterways through time immemorial.
